Indie games galore, and hanging out with Skyrim Grandma
Alas, we were hoping to bring you a dedicated PAX Rising Showcase round-up video today, but we only managed to make it half way round this morning, as there were just oodles of people on the show floor today. Saturday tickets were completley sold out this year, so we’re going to have to head back tomorrow to finish things off. Still, we talk about plenty of highlights in today’s round-up, including my personal highlightThe Wreck(the next game from the makers of Bury Me, My Love), as well as Metroid-likeRusted Moss, musical deckbuilder Power Chords, and cyberpunk heist RPG Cyber Knights: Flash Point, which is developed by theStar Traders: Frontiersdevs.
We also got to sneak up to the ludicrously high convention centre catwalks during our lunch break, giving us a bird’s eye view of the show floor and all the many hundreds of people zipping between the booths. I took a couple of timelapse shots on my phone, but uploaded them too late for Liam to include in the video, so have a gander at these very short GIFs (standing still for two minutes was all I could muster up there) here instead.
Finally, we rounded out the day by attending Shirley Curry’s panel about her journey withSkyrim. Despite suffering a stroke only last month, Shirley was on fine form today, showing that no arrow to the knee can stop her from being such a lovely, endearing presence. She talked about the way she created her characters, her approach to story-telling, and spent a very generous 45 minutes answering questions from the audience. There are too many gems to list here, but rest assured, I’ll be writing up a full report as soon as I can.
