Two years on and Bannerlord is ready for battle Horse-rush action RPGMount & Blade 2: Bannerlordlaunches on October 25th following a two-year-long early access period. It’s journeying onto consoles at the same time, too, but its 1.0 release isn’t going to be the end of the road for Bannerlord. Devs TaleWorlds Entertainment say they’ll continue to update it in “the coming months” after launch, although in what capacity they haven’t said yet....

There’s a lot of sand One of the most traditonallyepictrailers from the Gamescom-themed Opening Night Live tonight was forAtlas Fallen. It’s a new fantasy action RPG, with super powers, set in a semi-open world. In what is becomingsomething of a themefor me tonight, however, the trailer doesn’t really give much away about the game aside from the topline selling points. There is a tiny, teeny smattering of gameplay at the end, though....

But will it have a big musical intro? After beingteased earlier this year, we got our first proper glimpse at Gearbox’sNew Tales From The Borderlandsgame this evening, courtesy of Geoffcom’s Opening Night Live showcase. Heck, we even got a release date, and it’s real soon - October 21st, folks, so mark your calendars. Let’s watch that brand-new gameplay trailer, shall we? Like the Telltale original, this is a standalone narrative-based game in the Borderverse, but you won’t be continuing the adventures of Rhys and Fiona in this one....

A week of giant slaying Nexon’s free-to-play co-op shooterThe First Descendantannounced itself with a shootyteaser trailerlast month, and now it’s back with another look at the game’s colossal bosses in all their Unreal Engine 5 glory. Also suffering Steam Deck launcher problems I feel a bit deceived bySaints Rowat the moment. Although I spent the latter half of last week playing andperformance testingit, the worst I saw in terms of bugs, glitches and unintentional chicanery was one temporarily floating pedestrian and a few de-synced execution animations. Only after I committed this clean(ish) bill of health to writing did the game’s wider playerbase discover that it is, in fact, riddled with issues: some benign and hilarious, others irritating and game-breaking....

All the world’s a stage, I hear I’d be interested enough inPhantom Hellcatif it was a stylish third-person 3D hack-and-slasher - which it is. But it’salsoa stylish 2D hack-and-slasher, and the perspective shift - and the odd, theatrical world that it reveals - is the most interesting thing about the 30 second announcement trailer. Set in the city of Krat, players will be tasked with helping Pinocchio find Geppetto - the dapper chap in the trailer - as he searches for a way to make him human. You’ll need to make your way through the hellish city, craft weapons, and battle mechanical monstrosities to survive and from the trailer we can see that Pinocchio isn’t messing about, brawling giant steampunk robots with punchy weapons in fast-paced combat....

Enjoy being punched square in the heart by tragedy Edith Finch is returning to her family home years after they suddenly abandoned it one night. It is a stunning home, with rooms added over years until it rises wonkily into the sky. When a member of the Finch family dies, see, their bedroom is preserved as a shrine, each generation requiring a new extension. What a house! What Remains is building on the bones of games likeGone Home, a first-person explore-o-story set around a single home....

Here’s hoping it doesn’t make me seasick In fairness to Under The Waves, Parallel Studio and Quantic Dream have also partnered with non-profit organisation Surfrider Foundation Europe to incorporate themes of ocean conservation into the game as well, putting me in the mind of E-Line’s ocean exploration game,Beyond Blue. There will be “subtle messages” promoting the protection of lakes, rivers, oceans and coastlines mixed into the game, according to the devs, and Quantic Dream are also set to make a donation to the organisation as well....

The launch date was revealed at Opening Night Live and I am very excited Everyone has one or two things that still make them all happy and excited, with no trace of cynicism whatsoever, and one of mine is Monkey Island. I’ve not yet seen anything I didn’t like ofReturn To Monkey Island. It’s a new instalment in the classic point ‘n’ click ‘n’ pirate series being made under the loving care of Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman, two of the original devs, and now we know there’s only a few more weeks to wait....
