All the Gamescom Opening Night Live trailers and announcements Opening Night Live lived up to its intention and got Gamescom off to a roaring start, with over 30 game announcements that gave us a lovely sneak peek at what’s around the corner for games over the next couple of years....

The Gamescom reveal proves it is impossible to talk about I wish I could give you more opinions about, well, anything to do with Everywhere. It has deserts, forests, and a big futuristic city. Who built it? Doyoubuild it? Is the sort of space-horror tease at the end of the trailer anything? Will you ever be able to Google this game’s name without adding “video game” to the end of your search?...

Wyrdsong is the name Jeff Gardiner, a longtime Bethesdaman whose 15-year run ended with him as project lead onFallout 76, today announced he has a new studio making a new open-world RPG.Wyrdsongis its name, and supernatural shenanigans set in quasi-historical Portugal is its game. The new studio, Something Wicked Games really only have concept art to show right now, but I do believe both wizards and swords are involved. “Wyrdsong is an occult historical fantasy RPG set in a fictionalized Portugal in the middle ages,” a press release explains....

The Finals is why Arc Raiders got delayed When co-op shooterArc Raiders was delayeda couple of weeks ago, Embark Studios said that it was because development on their other project, an unannounced shooter, had progressed faster than expected. Well, tonight they announced that other shooter. It’s calledThe Finals, it’s a team-based shooter framed as a game show, and there’s an extremely brief teaser trailer below. It’s only 24 seconds: I think I can sum up what we know about The Finals in a single sentence....

Throwing down the gauntlet to Neon White Well, here’s a nice surprise. Brainwash Gang, the makers of narrative language gameGrotto, unveiled their next project this evening at Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live showcase, and it’s a funky, vibrant, online deckbuilding FPS calledFriends Vs Friends. ThinkNeon White, but instead of competing with your friends on leaderboards, you’re blasting their little cell-shaded noggins in real time in either 1v1 or 2v2 battles. Here’s the reveal trailer....

“We’re not trying to be done with Odyssey.” But the drama surrounding Elite Dangerous isn’t limited to the game’s overarching story. As I gear up to chat with lead game designer Luke Betterton and senior producer Samantha Marsh, the Thargoid in the room isElite Dangerous: Odyssey. Launched in May last year, Elite’s second expansion was, to put it lightly, not well received by Elite’s community. Complaints ranged from extensive bugs and performance issues to more fundamental criticisms about the implementation of the expansion’s on-foot exploration and FPS combat....

During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update will launch - depending on what timezone you’re in - either tomorrow or later tonight. If you’re counting down the final six hours before its release, you can now spend that time watching the new trailer 187 times. It shows the new characters and the region of Sumeru and you’ll find it below. Update 3.0 introduces players to Sumeru, a new region with jungle and desert areas inspired by a mixture of Middle Eastern and South Asian cultures....

Plus reveals Harley Quinn and Clayface in a new villains trailer It’s not often that we get to report a game coming out earlier than planned rather than delaying the date, so it’s nice to be able to tell you thatGotham Knightshas moved its release dateup. It’s only by four days, though, to October 21st, which is sort of baffling. Maybe Warner Bros. are about to announce a new DC-verse TV show coming out on the Knights' original release date of the 25th?...

This Innocn model has been tested and approved by John Linneman of Digital Foundry too. Portable monitors are pretty awesome - they’re an easy way to get a dual screen setup going on a laptop, and also work well to expand the Steam Deck’s rather modest screen into something a little more co-op friendly. Of course, they also work for desktop computers too - and are much more portable and space-saving than an average actual desktop monitor....

Watch the new Gamescom trailer Nebulae are nice and black holes are dramatic, but I firmly believe that space battles are at their very coolest when whizzing around supersized ships and megastructures. I am therefore delighted by the newHomeworld 3trailer showing a battle around sprawling technoruins in the long-awaited spaceship strategy sequel. And yes, absolutely it still has those cool Tron engine trails. That’s nice, that. I do like spaceterrain, spicing up battles with properties like providing cover or masking sensor signals....

Choo choo EveryHonkai: Star Railtrailer I watch focuses entirely on its many characters and their interpersonal drama, and the latest is no different. Dark pasts? Dark dreams? Dark academia bedrooms? It has all three. As per usual, I am just here for the fun of an old-fashioned train that can fly through space. Here’s the video from tonight’s Gamescom Opening Night Live: Honkai: Star Railis from HoYoVerse, and as the name suggest, it’s connected to their action RPGHonkai Impact 3rd....
