Few are sad Microsoft have finally confirmed the games coming to Game Pass this January - and hey, it’s just the (stellar) games we already knew about from announcements last year. But there is a new game among those leaving the service: We Happy Few, the creepy, sneaky survival horror from Compulsion Games - who are now a Microsoft first-party studio. Alas, while developers Compulsion Games are now Microsoft owned, We Happy Few was developed in partnership with Gearbox Publishing, an Embracer joint, and so is not controlled by Microsoft....

There’s only a few weeks until EA Motive’s reimagining of the originalDead Spacestalks onto PC, but anyone pre-ordering the game on Steam will also nab a copy ofDead Space 2. This seems to be exclusive to Valve’s storefront, as the Epic Games Store isn’t listing the offer on their pre-order page for theDead Spaceremake. Oh, and even though Dead Space 2’s been available for more than a decade you’ll have to wait until the Dead Space remake goes live to play your complimentary copy....

Miller’s handling reshoots in place of director Eli Roth We’ve known for a few years that Gearbox’s sci-fi shooterBorderlandsis being adapted for the silver screen, but shooting on the movie is now almost finished. Director Eli Roth, known for grisly stuff such as Cabin Fever, has jumped off the project ahead of schedule though. Deadlinereportthat Roth has handed Borderlands over to his friend Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool. Miller will oversee a few weeks of reshoots for Borderlands while Roth begins work on a horror movie called Thanksgiving....

Forspoken, not forsaken, Forspoken, not forsaken Last month CJ reported that we might see a demo forForspoken, Square Enix’s upcoming action RPG with magic-infused parkour. A demo did indeed come out in December, but only on PS5 - and to very mixed reviews. It’s a shame, because the world on show in its latest cinematic trailer looks appetisingly stylish. The game comes out on January 24th, so we’ll know for sure soon enough....

Meet a peaceful community of spirits Tiny EchobyShelterdevelopersMight and Delightis a real hidden gem. It’s very in line with what the studio is known for - creating beautiful handcrafted worlds complete with stories about nature - but with Tiny Echo, instead of making an animal game featuring a group of cute critters trying to survive the brutal wilderness (and that most likely made you cry), the Stockholm team went completely left-field and created a bite-sized ethereal puzzler that deals with ghosts and spirits....

It’s the first game picked up by new indie label Bigmode Platforming adventureAnimal Wellhas been picked up by Bigmode, the indie publishing company set up last year by YouTuber Videogamedunkey. The Metroidvania is being developed by Shared Memories, another name for solo dev Billy Basso. Basso is crafting a multi-layered puzzle horror platformer that he hopes will keep people playing the game for years, and collaborating to solve its mysteries. It only needs 3 seconds of audio A team of researchers at Microsoft have published a paper on VALL-E, their new AI that can generate realistic impersonations of human speech based on just 3-second samples. It’s a concerning development for voice actors, as well as anyone who could be duped into thinking they’re on the phone with a relative who desperately needs their card details. I’m usually struck by the impressiveness of new AI tricks before I think about their negative implications, but I found this unsettling from the off....
