It’s wonderful but… Graham asked me if I’d discovered what the metaphor inMetaphor: ReFantaziomight be, and I replied, “I don’t know haha”, or something along those lines. Having given it more thought, I think there are two metaphors: 1) It plays quite likePersona. 2) Its story is like a commentary on our society… or something to that effect. Metaphors aside, though, the game is a gigantic fantasy RPG that’s technically better thanPersona 5in a lot of ways....

Eligible bachelor Found a dead rat in my inbox this morning. When I examined the entrails it spelled out the following: PaThoLoGiC 3 aNnOuNcEd ToDaY. Ah, I see. Developers Ice Pick Lodge are working on a sequel to their infamously oppressive plague town simulator, only this time the follow-up will feature “a time-travel mechanic, allowing players to go back and see how their decisions change the lives of the townspeople.” It will also put you in the fancy-schmancy shoes of the Bachelor, a doctor fond of quoting Latin phrases, who will have the ability to order quarantines and request patrols of entire areas of town....

Pack your sunnies PlayingPhoenix Springsfeels like David Lynch spliced together the ripped pages of a pulpy sci-fi comic with the storyboards of a broody noir. Its visuals are stark and foreboding, its dialogue delivered in riddles, and its haunting choral music sounds like it’s been recorded in a wind tunnel. It’s a point-and-click that calls back to early 90’s Lucas Artsadventure games, and while it shares the same frustrations, the presentation makes it feel entirely contemporary....

This mysterious letter from my wife says “Lower the shadow quality” TheSilent Hill 2 remakeis only out today, but it’s been nearly two years since thefirst system requirements appeared, immediately distressing our PCs so badly that they started having their own nightmares of fog-smothered towns and James Sunderland in an uncomfortably high-poly nurse outfit. Those requirements have since loweredandrisen, and now we know for sure that nu-Silent Hill 2is one tough customer for performance – albeit one that benefits greatly from just one or two key settings tweaks....

Dream logic If you’ve been keeping up with the positive review scores for theSilent Hill 2 Remake, you may have been surprised to read theWikipediapage over the weekend, only to learn that thehorror gamehad “received the worst reviews imaginable.” As spotted byEurogamer, the page has now been locked following some deranged edits that altered review scores to appear much lower than they actually were. These salty edits were apparently the work of the usual suspects....
