Apex Legends Season 20's skill trees see the battle royale take a surprising MOBA turn

“Legend upgrades” aim to reward fiercer fighting and diminish RNG I’ve playedApex LegendsSeason 20, and it might be the fastest and fiercest that the battle royaleFPShas ever been – while also being the richest in tactical opportunities and metagame theorycrafting. It’s all thanks to a drastically expanded Evo experience system, one that now not only boosts your shield capacity, but unlocks the branches of a MOBA-style skill tree that permanently buffs your character for the duration of a match....

Great deal alert: $2500 58-inch Samsung monitor now $1800

A $700 savings on what is essentially two 4K 240Hz monitors glued together. I don’t expect anyone to buy this monitor - but I’m absolutely entranced by a $700 discount on a gaming monitor that brings it down to “just” $1800. To be fair, this is essentially two 32-inch 4K 240Hz monitors without the gap in the middle, with a Mini LED backlight that delivers 1000-nit HDR highlights, an absolute beast of a monitor… but I’m guessing that most people that can drop nearly $2000 on a monitor aren’t waiting for a deals post on Rock Paper Shotgun to do so....

If Inscryption was a fantasy-themed roguelike dungeon crawler, it might look a lot like this

Pyrene is another budding deckbuilding obsession Apologies if I’m starting to sound like a broken record these days, but here I am, back with another edition of"Have you heard about this cool new roguelike deckbuilder?“I swear I’ll find a new/another niche one of these days, but listen,Pyreneis very cool indeed, and I lost a good hour to its free demo last week on Steam. On the surface, this might look like your typical fantasy dungeon crawler, but Pyrene has some neat tricks of its own, combining its own blend of resource gathering and roguelike citybuilding withInscryption’s number-crunching battles and a dash ofForetales' card-based exploration....

Intel's best value gaming CPU is down to £125 at Amazon UK

The Core i5 12400F is a capable performer that comes in £75 less than its 13400F or 14400F successors. One of Intel’s best value CPUs for gaming is even better value than usual this week, as the Core i5 12400F is down to just £125 at Amazon. That’s more than £75 cheaper than the 13th and 14th-gen equivalents, which add on only meagre levels of performance, and a great price for a CPU that can use the same DDR4 or DDR5 motherboards with PCIe 5....

Moonbreaker, Warhammer-like tactics game from Subnautica devs and Brandon Sanderson, exits early access

1.0 adds new Boss Run mode, new painting tools and extra characters for your crew Moonbreaker, theunexpected collaborationbetweenSubnauticadevelopers Unknown Worlds and seemingly tireless human book machine Brandon Sanderson, has hit 1.0 after spending the last year in early access. Moonbreaker, if you’d forgotten, is essentially a tabletop miniatures game a la Warhammer, but digitised. Not in the way that, say, theWarhammer 40k video gamesdo away with all pretence of being a tabletop game in favour of aGear of War-a-like/XCOM-a-like/Left 4 Dead-a-like, but something closer to the actual meeples ‘n’ models of Tabletop Simulator - albeit with all the fiddliness of that physics sandbox removed....

Naughty Dog have a Last Of Us Part 3 "concept" and it's not the previously revealed "small story" about Tommy

But Part 2 would still make “a fine ending point” Naughty Dog’s grand panjandrum (co-president) Neil Druckmann has a concept in mind forThe Last Of Us: Part 3, following on from the original PlayStation 3action-adventure’s tale of parental love and the PS4 game’s theme of “justice at any cost”. This isn’t confirmation that a third single player Last Of Us game is in development, with Druckmannreiterating comments from this time last yearthat Naughty Dog feel no obligation to continue the tale....

New Quake singleplayer map pack remixes multiplayer levels from Counter-Strike, Mario Kart, and more

“Wait, is this from…? Oh god I can’t believe they made this” Johnsto’s Law states: if a game has a level editor, someone will recreate de_dust2. The iconic Counter-Strike map is,I have argued, “one of the fundamental shapes of video games”. Recreating levels from other games is a mapping tradition as old as creating your house (not to be confused withMyHouse). I am delighted to see this done en masse, with a twist....

Palworld: Best Pals for Transporting

Here are our picks for the best Pals for Transporting in Palworld Want to know which Pals in Palworld are best at Transporting?Transporting doesn’t initially seem like the most exciting Work Suitability skill inPalworld- after all, it’s technically just moving harvested items into storage containers. Respawn are "thinking about Titanfall a lot," even if it’s to serve Apex Legends

Callbacks must be “thoughtful and respectful,” says Apex narrative chief Like manyTitanfallenjoyers, I look at the gleaming success of battle royale spinoffApex Legendswith both a smidge of pride and a gutful of sadness that I haven’t had any wall-running, mech-droppingFPSadventures since. Indeed, anunannounced single-player Titanfall gamewas quietly shelved last year, and if there’s any burning sense of unfinished business among series devs Respawn Entertainment, it wasn’t evident during my recent visit to try outApex Legends’ Season 20 update....
