Roguelike shooter Killer Bean brings its mix of Just Cause physics, Matrix gunfights and PS2 energy to early access this summer

Solo developer Jeff Lew worked on The Matrix Reloaded - and it shows Killer Bean the game is a third-person shooter roguelike that procedurally generates a whole new campaign - from locations and the enemies and bosses you’ll fight there - each time you play. That sounds fairly ambitious in itself, before you start referencing the plethora of gameplay features going on here. There’s Just Cause vehicle play - the new trailer shows the Killer Bean skidding around in a car mowing down foes in a hail of bullets before leaping out, as well as grabbing a grenade in mid-air to lob it back to a group of baddies - andMax Payne-y bullet diving in slow motion, along with some Wanted-level bullet physics in first-person as bullets (which look to be steered with a SniperElite-like bullet cam) ricochet off each other to turn 90-degree corners around walls....

Tears Of Metal is a normal night out in Scotland with slightly more co-op roguelike stabbing

Iron Brew Oh, this one looks nice, doesn’t it?Tears Of Metalis a rousing medieval stabathon that sees you retaking your Scottish island from a bunch of bad lads who’ve decided to come have a go, which was a bit silly of them, honestly. It’s a hack n’ slashco-oproguelike with some nifty looking strategy elements and a striking art style, but you can tell most of that from the trailer below:...

The First Descendant brings Warframe style looter shooting this July

I’m not that GaaSed about it This one’s a four playerco-opjoint, where you’ll team up to shoot dudes, collect loot, shoot more dudes, collect more loot, tweak your loadout, pay a weekly shopping bill’s worth of cash for a fancy shirt probably, collect more loot, then fight a very large boss. Each of the characters have different elemental abilities, and there’s also a grappling hook in there somewhere why not. The idea is, I take it, to chain abilities and movement tech together in a sort of free-flowing violence dance, alaWarframe....

The Stanley Parable co-creator announces a tea-brewing sim that's secretly not-so-cosy

Ivy Road’s Wanderstop gets pretty bleak for a shop-keeping sim, but who’s surprised? When the Summer Game Fest trailer for “narrative-centric cosy game"Wanderstopsaid it was from the creator behindThe Stanley Parable, I thought I had surely entered a different dimension where The Stanley Parable was actually a wholesome shop-keeping sim rather than a zig-zagging office-based nightmare. Then Wanderstop started to get rather bleak, and I finally stopped pinching myself. See for yourself....

This game will be deleted from Steam unless players can beat the developers at it

Heroic last flop Maddock was 22 at the time - “10% of my life on the project!’ - and while the “devastating” failure of Fishards had set the devs on the different paths, they decided to give it another shot. They made the game free-to-play, and spent all the money they’d earned from sales on marketing. “It brought a few new players into the game but not as many as we’d hoped....

We’re finally getting our big budget Kevin Costner’s Waterworld game in Tides Of Tomorrow

We’re going to need more than 40 quarters Enough moons ago to qualify as quite a lot of moons but not so much for me to categorise them as ‘many’, Alice Beewroteabout an Itch game called Kevin Costner’s Waterworld - a fully playable extrapolation of a Simpsons’ joke from three decades ago. Simpsons jokes from three decades making up most of my sense of humour, I of course thought it was brilliant....
