How to get a mount in Diablo 4

To get a mount in Diablo 4, you mustcomplete the “Donan’s Favor” quest, which you’ll gain access to after completing thefirst three Acts of the main story. The first three acts can be completed in any order, but you must complete all three to start Act 4.

After completing Acts 1-3, you’ll start Act 4 and immediately gain access to the “Donan’s Favor” quest. This means that you don’t need to worry about missing the quest as it unlocks as you progress through the main campaign.

Once you’ve reached Act 4 and completed the first quest, in which you speak to Donan in the Cathedral of Light, head out into the city of Kyovashad and speak with the Stablemaster to start the “Donan’s Favour” quest and get your first mount. You can find a map of the exact location you need to head to below:

If you’re wondering whether there’s any way to unlock mounts faster, then unfortunately you’re out of luck. You need to reach Act 4 before you can get a mount in Diablo 4. And if you’re looking for a level recommendation, we found that we completed the first three Acts ataround level 30, with a little bit of side content included along the way.

Donan’s Favor is a thankfully quick quest. After the first Act 4 mission, in which you meet Donan in the Cathedral of Light, you’ll automatically see Donan’s Favor added to your quest log. It simply tells you to head to the Kyovashad Stablemaster, who gets you a mount after one quick conversation.

And that’s it, you’ve now got the mount, and best of all, all future characters will have access to it straight away too.

Not only can you now more easily travel through the depths of Hell, you now gain access to dismount abilities. These are class specific skills that let you attack when dismounting, but watch out - if you are knocked off, your character will miss the opportunity to use the skill.

To unlock these skills, you’re going to first need to unlock the Dismount ability. And following that the specific ability for that class. We’ve put together a list below of all these dismount skills below:

Along with class specific abilities, each class can also learn the skill Spur, which increases the speed of the Mount.

To change the look of a mount, the simplest way is tobuy a new one from a Stablemaster- they can be found in most settlements. Customising your mount can get expensive though, with some mount skins stretching as high as 100,000 Red Dust (for Reins Of The Bloody Steed). However, you can also find mounts within chests and within the loot dropped by certain monsters - so it’s not always expensive.

As well as changing the mounts, you can alsoadd Mount Trophies and Mount Bardingsto your mounts. These can be picked up by completing certain missions, loot from certain monsters, buying them from certain vendors, and some even come as bonuses for buying specific versions of the game.

The customisations you make change only the look of your mount and don’t give it any buffs. But at least you can now show off with it in PvP.
