It’s a procedurally-generated romp through various mission types such as asteroid mining, battling space pirates and rescuing ships in distress, all spread throughout the galaxy. Routine is set in a vast lunar colony, in a low-fi future forseen by the 1980s. Something terrible happens, it falls silent, and in we go to investigate. Poke around, sneak around, and maybe fight around, if you dare. I had forgotten how excited I was for this, and now I’m feeling it all over again. I still dig that clunky retrofuturistic style. “As we were approaching what we believed to be the end of development, we were finding more and more things that we weren’t happy with that negatively impacted the experience,” they explained....

You can find sentry guns to activate and watch your back. You have a big gun. You’re on a salvage mission into a creaking derelict. But unlike most video games inspired by Aliens, you’re just as squishy as those movie marines....

Well, that’s a blast from the past Crikey, one thing I never expected to see at tonight’s Summer Game Fest was a sequel to Delphine Software and U.S. Gold’s cinematic sci-fi platformerFlashback, but there it was.Flashback 2is coming from long-established French studio Microids, developers of the Syberia series. It’s been 30 years now since the original game released on PC, and Geoff Keighley was very excited to re-announce the sequel. Check out the trailer below....

“You are a demon made of glass and pain.” Here’s the new trailer: Let’s be clear, it’s not like it looked bad before, but its abstract world looked spartan. Now it seems to contain cityscapes rendered as particles of light and inhabited by polygonal spectres, sparkling diamonds and vehicular orbs. The camera angles, the soundtrack, the texture of it all; it’s lush in a way that makes me want to play it immediately....

Honestly, why does anyone bother building isolated space stations? It’s like getting married at Christmas in Albert Square at this point. Geoff was joined on stage by Roger Clark (who you will know from being Arthur Morgan inRed Dead Redemption) and Troy Baker (who you will know from, I dunno, throw a dart, you’ll hit one) to briefly talk more about their characters and what the hap is heckening in this horror adventure game....

Assorted Avengers will assemble on October 7th The final heroes and villains ofMarvel’s Midnight Sunshave been revealed at tonight’sSummer Game Festbonanza. Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch will be joining previously announced goodies such as Iron Man, Blade and Captain Marvel, while err… Scarlet Witch, Hulk and Venom will repping the game’s big bad demon mother Lilith. Man, if there’s one Avenger I wouldn’t want going all evil on me, it’s Hulk. And Scarlet Witch, to be fair....
