Lord, I’m in love with Valve’s Steam Deck TGS booth

A masterclass in en-masse computer fondling TheSteam Deck’s Asia release has taken it to theTokyo Game Show, following a solo launch event that included severalsurviving Steam Deck prototypes. In my report on the latter I made some passing references to a novelty oversized Deck that Valve were building for their TGS booth, completely unaware of how often I’d find myself admiring it a few days later. See, the Steam Deck booth at TGS, from the towering scale model to the weirdly impressive elegance of its logistics, might be the finest event booth I’ve ever seen....

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak's second free title update lets you wield a giant corn on the cob

More new monsters than you can wave a comically large vegetable at Beastie-battling action RPGMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakis getting a second free update on September 29th. While there’s some new monsters to square off against, I feel the most critically important part of the update is the layered weapons system. This gives you the option to unsheathe some truly bizarre weaponry, including something that appears to be a comically huge ear of sweet corn....

Nightdive are remastering classic FPS Rise Of The Triad

Nightdive say that Rise Of The Triad’s art has been remastered and the cutscenes are now in HD. They’re chucking in a new level editor, stuff from “lost betas”, and an extra episode called Dial M For Monk. No, I don’t think Tony Shalhoub’s involved. Everything should be running in up to 4K at 60fps, with increased field of view and updates for the HUD and UI. It’s got mod cons such as achievements and cloud saves too....

The first two classic Suikoden RPGs are coming to PC as an HD remaster

Immediately noticeable is the fairly big difference between how the original Suikodens look compared to their newly announced remaster treatment. The overworld’s been given some particular attention, and now has lovely clouds hovering above. Konami say they’ve zhuzhed up the sprites and environments with new effects such as lighting, flickering flames, smoke effects, moving flora and fauna, and animated shadows. All of the games’ character portraits have been given HD makeovers, with the first game’s portraits redrawn by original character designer Junko Kawano....

The Wandering Village early access review: a gorgeous city-builder with a loveable colossus

Yes, you can pet them I’ve always thought each of the sixteen colossi in Shadow Of The Colossus is kinda cute in their own special way. There’s just something about the animal-like antics of those immense, lumbering creatures that make them naturally adorable, even though they wouldn’t hesitate in breaking every single bone in my small, weak body. Zürich-based developers Stray Fawn Studio totally get what I’m on about, and have created their own lovable rocky giant in their city-building simThe Wandering Village....
