The amazing Resident Evil 4 HD remaster mod is out now

It might be the best remaster mod ever made Along with new high-res textures, the mod tweaks many 3D models for more detail, remakes the UI in high-res form, redoes pre-rendered cutscenes, fixes some visual glitches Capcom had left in, improves lighting and shadows in places, and does more work to make it look better. The mod brings technical improvements too, such as better widescreen support. It even (optionally) restores visual effects like the depth-of-field blur present in the original release but absent in later versions....

WD Black SN770 review: just short of SSD greatness

A PCIe 4.0 SSD with some serious sibling rivalry Western Digital are continuing their charge into high-speed PCIe 4.0 SSDs with the WD Black SN770. This is pretty straight down the middle as far as Gen 4 SSDs go: the 1TB model I’ve tested claims sequential speeds up to 5150MB/s for reads and 4900MB/s for writes, enough to embarrass any PCIe 3.0 SSD without veering into mega-enthusiast territory. There’s a broad range of capacities too, starting at 250GB and ending at a roomy 2TB....

Battlefield 2042's season one delayed in favour of finishing the game

“Extensive fixes” based on player feedback In ablog post, senior producer Ryan McArthur outlines the updates coming most imminently. That includes changes tothe in-round scoreboard revealed a couple of weeks ago. Player profiles will aim to give a better overview of “how far you have to go for your next unlock”, and voice comms will… exist. Continuing the love of loops, the post outlines a new “feedback loop” for the dev team to communicate to players, which boils down to: Dice will say what they’re working on, listen to feedback, then say how they’ve changed what they’re working on in response to said feedback....

Can the games industry please stop with the acquisitions for one second, please, cheers

I am tired and achy Hi, nice to meet you. Can I get you anything? A drink, a bite to eat, anacquisitionmaybe? There are apparently a lot of them to go around, after all. Hear that? It’s Sony buying Bungie. It’s Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard. It’s Tencent accidentally dropping £365 billion down a grate as they stroll down the street and unknowingly buy the Earth’s crust. They were on the phone to me at the time, putting an offer on my flat....

Gibbon: Beyond The Trees is a gorgeous 2D tree-swinging adventure

Jungle skateboarding I feel I say this twice a week, but grappling hooks really are the best things in video games, and gibbons are basically nature’s grapple hookers. Their long arms are just short grappling hooks. Described as a “hand-drawn ecological adventure,” Gibbon: Beyond The Trees tells an hour-long story that moves from jungles to cities and incorporates issues such as deforestation, poaching and climate change. The core of the experience is mastering its movement system, whereby you swing from branches to build momentum and can perform special moves like swinging from other gibbon’s in mid-air....

Kingston Fury Renegade review: the fastest SSD we’ve tested

Pure PCIe 4.0 power Oh, this isclassicKingston. I don’t think any other SSD manufacturer so consistently goes quiet for months on end, then suddenly rocks up at your house, slams a world-beating NVMe drive on your desk and wordlessly disappears again. It happened with the A2000, it happened with theKC2500and now it’s happened with the Fury Renegade. Granted, this new SSD is a very different proposal to the relatively affordable, for-everyone KC2500....
